well I've visited NYC three times and I love the place. With all the visits I've done all the touristy things and thoroughly enjoyed them.

The first visit I found quite intimidating to begin with due to the speed and size of the city but once you get into the swing of it it is amazing from the constant honking of horns to the smell of toasted nuts on the sidewalk.

Before visiting I expected the people of new york to be quite rude as in they thought they were to busy to help but this is far from true to my experiences. I always found people to be helpful whenever it was possible to them as long as they were approached in a polite manner.
