When I was a child, I was read most of geography books, and on TV looked a documentaries about unknown ( to me ) countries all over the world. I want to see all this towns and countries. Now, I grew up, I'm working and have enough money to realize my wishes from childhood. It's sounding idealistic ? Of course, but some people want big house, fast car or whatever; I like travel. So here is the plan: one country in one year to the oldest years. |
Tinjan ( Istra ) I was born in small village Tinjan in province Istra in Croatia. I'm sure that many of travellers heard or I hope were in Istra. Istra is a beatiful peninsula north of Adriatic sea. Here is many tourist centers on the sea, but Istra also have a hundreds old towns and villages in inland. Tinjan is one of this towns. Town was founded in Roman age. We are known especially for good food ( " pršut " - Istrian ham ), preserved nature, quite neigborhood and good wine. In Tinjan you can see " županski stol ", a table when were elected " župan ", which mean major of the province. This elections was beginning of the democracy in middle ages ( 10 to 15 century ). Near Tinjan is old town Pazin with his Castle, known from the book " Matias Sandorf " from Jules Verne. So when you are in Istra, take a time to see inland, only 15 minutes off the shore, and you will be delighted. |
