Ireland is a great place to visit but don't come to Ireland on a "package" tour where you are bussed from place to place like cattle. Sure, you'll see some sites, plenty of giftshops and plenty of "authentic" pubs prefabricated onto the side of hotels but you'll never experience Ireland. You'll never meet the people and you'll have no idea what the place is *really* like. If you want to see the real Ireland book a hotel room for week in a major city such as Cork, Dublin or Galway, hire a car and explore at your own leisure. There is fantastic scenery close to every part of Ireland, lively town centres to shop and eat in and plenty of things to do from the sedate to the active. In the evening be sure to visit some real pubs and get *really* drunk at least once!
