More kid-friendly than we'd have thought.....
If you are going with kids, I’d recommend the following activities while there (in addition to the temples)….you can find the addresses in the local guides:
- Lunch at Butterflies Gardens. Nice restaurant that is totally enclosed in a net, and full of butterflies and a koi pond. They pay rural children to bring in colorful butterflies every week.
- Dinner at Dead Fish. Thai restaurant with a live crocodile pit. Lots of fun to walk around in. Careful to watch small kids – lots of lofts with no barriers to discourage steep drops
- Dinner / Shadow Puppet & Apsara Dance Show at La Noria Hotel. Very entertaining, especially for kids. There are some other places that do this as well.
- Shopping at Artisans d’Angkor. Do all of your gift shopping here. Lots and lots of different items made by rural artisans trained on site. Was very interesting to walk through.
- Royal Independence Gardens in early evening. Large fruit bats begin to stir and then fly off.
- FCC. We ate lunch here one day. Expensive, but good food with several kid-friendly items….
- Shopping and Eating in the Old Market section. Lots of food choices, nice atmosphere. Several places to get ice cream, etc.
