I love T or C. It is unpretentious, affordable, fun and retro without trying to be!

A visit to T or C is definitely worth the trouble of driving down from Albuquerque. Going into the downtown area, I felt as if I had entered a time warp and had travled back to 1962 (before my parents even met!). This is a good thing. The people of T or C don't replace signs and buildings with new fangled fancy decor; instead, they fix what they have, and this lends to the town's well-kept retro appearance.

There is a refreshing lack of chain businesses in downtown T or C. Instead, there are many funky little shops, as well as cafes and coffee shops, all with their own quirky proprietors. I recommend the used bookstore, with a surprising array of old and rare volumes.

If you do go, stay at the Charles Motel and Spa and get an affordable spa treatment, such as a massage or hot mineral bath or sweat wrap. In the summer of 2006, all three cost around $50 total. You can also sit in the rooftop hot tub and enjoy watching the sun set over the mountains. This cost around $10 as of last summer...

I'm definitely going back.
