Local Bar with a lot of Atmosphere and other Seychelles Nightlife Tips

Nightlife Spot: Katiolo

I was surprised when our local friends took us to Katiolo for a night out! This place is a blast. It's very crowded on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. The bar is open, with a huge outdoor area to sit down and cool off. Inside, there's a large dance floor with a DJ that plays a lot of Jamaican and Seychellois reggae and dancehall.

Beer and liquor are available and you can buy liquor by the glass or buy a bottle that comes with set-ups such as Coke and other mixers.

It was a great way to meet locals and hang out with them!

There is quite a homosexual crowd at the bar on Friday nights while the other nights draw more of a mixed crowd of mostly locals, with some tourists in tow. A mix of all colors and persuasions made it a really fun place!!

Dress Code: Jeans are acceptable. I wore sandals, my husband wore loafers. It's a little more upscale and most locals tend to dress up a little.

Nightlife Spot: Barrel Bar

I didn't care for this place near as much as Katiolo. It's very crowded in the downstairs portion of the bar (where everyone hangs out) and a lot of people were smoking.

The Barrel Bar is certainly interesting and I'm glad we got to see it but for a more exciting and upscale crowd, I'd definitely recommend Katiolo!

However, if you tend to get hungry when you drink, you can merely walk across the street and order some fried chicken from the shop across the street. Locals are lined up outside at all hours!
