My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai using Hyatt's "stay certificates". If you are from the U.S. (and maybe other countries as well?), you can purchase stay certificates from the Hyatt website for $165 U.S. per night to stay at this hotel. For that rate, we thought the hotel was a fabulous deal. Our experiences with the staff were spotty -- some were very helpful (the hotel recognized our anniversary with a nice cake and some dates) and others were quite rude.
The hotel is located close to the airport so that means lots of taxi travel to get to the malls, souks, beach, etc. However, since we stayed there in February, we saved a lot of money off the hotel's internet rate (although it was too cool for the pool or beach while we were there). If you want an upscale hotel for a good price, using the stay certificates is definitely worth looking into.
