Edelweiss Hotel, Jln Sukajadi - Bandung

Edelweiss Hotel, Jln Sukajadi

Edelweiss Hotel, Jln Sukajadi: Bandung For the Shopaholic

The trip was ONLY about shopping, nothing less and nothing more. We had in our minds, a place only to sleep and shower and to store our shopping buys and Edelweiss was perfect. It was cheap, clean and simple.

It was Rp 414,000.00 which is RM162.00 for a total of four days and three nights. Pay the whole sum upon arrival for fear that after the shopping trip, you might run out of money.

Edelweiss Hotel is probably once a bungalow house transformed into a hotel cum factory outlet. There are rooms on both lower and upper floors. We picked the ones on the upper floor. It was great, because we get a view of the area.

The room has two extra chairs, a dressing table, a closet, a TV and air conditioner. On arrival, we just left the room door opened whilst we were inside. It felt pretty safe to do so!

There's no kettle to boil hot water in the room nor is there any mini bar. So, dont bother packing your Maggi Mees or 3 in 1 Nescafes.

They do provide guests with two mineral waters, breakfasts in the morning, hot water in the shower.

Plan to eat out at night, coz it'll be hard to find food, unless you already have a ride or you like McDonald's delivered to you. The staff will help you order it btw, if you find it difficult to speak Bahasa Indonesia. This is tried and tested.

Recommended for those who dont mind skipping the luxuries of a 4-5 star hotel, singles and if you're a bit tad adventurous (you can walk, take the public transport instead of being chauffered in a taxi).

Not recommended for those with babies, children or in large groups. The hotel is nearby the Setiabudhi area (which houses the famous Rumah Mode) but the main shopping area such as Pasar Baru is quite a distance and if coming in large families, you may need to take a taxi [if you fear dividing the family in two trips by the Angkut.) Taxi trips can reach up to Rp35,000 or more per trip depending on the driver. So those with families, I suggest you go for the hotels that are near the town centre.

Unique Qualities: Friendly Staff! For a supposedly 2 star hotel, the staffs were very helpful (including obtaining a Nokia charger for us) since neither of us had the right adapter to use. They send breakfast to the room in the mornings between 7 am to 10am, so it was really great as we didnt need to rush to get ready and go down to eat. In fact, we were eating whilst getting ready. Its so like home! Meet Saiful at the reception who will provide you with a map of Bandung (which is accurate!) and ask him a lot of questions on public transport. He can speak both Bahasa Indonesia (which can be understood by most Malaysians) and English. Breakfast was fast with a selection of Nasi Goreng and Toast. I suggest going for the Nasi Goreng all the way because it is a fuller meal! The toast was not served with butter or anything else at the side. just toast with jam. Needless to say, we were hungry faster when we had the toast for breakfast.

Edelweiss is a factory outlet on its own (children wear).

There are several Factory Outlets along the same street, but the more famous Rumah Mode is just a street away. You can walk, but it may be tiring so get an Angkut heading that way.
