Madrid - a thriving city, day and night

Spanish grandeur

Beautiful Night at Gran Via
Madrid is SPain's capital city, so naturally, it's elegant, classic, filled with culture and history. Walking the streets of Madrid is never boring. You can gaze at the beautiful architechture while you try not to bump into the hundreds of locals and tourists who make this city so alive. Basic sights include the Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, Palacio Real, Fuente de Cibeles, Puerta de Alcala, as well as the three main museums, which hold priceless pieces of art: Museo del Prado, Museo Thyssen, and Centro Reina Sofia. So, what's great about Madrid is that by day you're absorbing the magic of Velazquez's "Meninas" and by night you're having wine and tapas at an outdoor cafe, and it all feels equally special.

De Marcha!!!

Madrid boasts some of the best nightlife in all of Europe. People here definitely know how to party, it doesn't matter if it's Tuesday - if you're in the mood to go out, you can do it, and you can be sure you'll have a great time. There are hundreds of options, ranging from traditional tapa bars to huge nightclubs, with everything in between. Whatever your age and music taste, your budget and energy level, there's something in Madrid you'll like. The night usually begins around 11 and can easily go on until 7 or 8 the following day. Oh, and don't be surprised if you see people drinking in the streets, this is called botellon and it's a popular way to begin a "noche de marcha".
