"Malaysia...Truly Asia" a Kuala Lumpur Travel Page by uysijessa

Malaysia was never really on my "places to visit list" until I saw a feature on the beaches of Langkawi I've wanted to visit Malaysia. I'm such a beach person and seeing how gorgeous the island of Langkawi was I wanted to go so bad. And then they began to promote Malaysia heavily on T.V. as a tourist destination and all the more I decided I wanted to go. But this time my boyfriend and I wanted to visit Kota Kinabalu because of the forests and wildlife. The opportunity to visit Malaysia finally came in 2006 when Air Asia started flying from Clark and offered really low fares. My dad (who works at the airport and knew people from Air Asia) decided he would like to visit Malaysia as well and before we knew it we were off! The only thing was that we wouldn't be going to Langkawi or Kota Kinabalu but to the capital, Kuala Lumpur.

I didn't really know much about Kuala Lumpur except for the Petronas Twin Towers and the park/trail that was featured on the Amazing Race Asia. Oh and the F1 race track (but that was outside KL)! So when we went to KL I wasn't really that excited. But the trip turned out pretty well and was quite satisfying thanks in part to our friendly host (my mom's Malaysian friend) who showed us around and brought us to places we wouldn't have been able to go to if left to our own devices, and in part to a friendly cab driver who also doubled as our tourist guide.

Although I've explored KL there's still much to see. I still plan to go to Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu one day!
