A Forgotten Town

Levuka is the old capital. stick between the ocean and the mountains it couldn't expand and the capital was instead moved to Suva. The town is well perserved and on the surface it brings you back to the late 19th century. It's great for some indulging in history and atmosphere. As a tourist you're welsomed and popular. Since it's off the beaten path, not too many and only the more sophisticated find their way here. Hence the tourism is quite positively looked up on by most locals.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:You'll land in the middle of the towns history, people are friendly and it's cheap
  • Cons:Not much to do. Even at a slow pace 3-4 days should be the maximum stay for anyone
  • In a nutshell:Less than one days travel from Nadi, More than one century from now

You are not forced to buy anything, if Levuka residents say "bula" to you. You will help keeping this geniune friendlyness just by responding in an adequat manner to it. Just say Bula and smile!

Interesting page! Levuka seems to be a rather unknown but nice place!
