Kalwaria Zebrzydowska Travel Guide: 70 reviews and 180 photos

Set in the Carpathian Foothills (the hilly belt that slopes down from the true mountains in the south to the Vistula and San Rivers in the north, is Kalwaria Zebryzdowska. Kalwaria Zebrzydowzka is on of Poland's major pilrimage destinations. It is only 30km south-west of Krakow so makes an ideal day trip out of the city.

What has made Kalwaria really famous are the Passion Plays which have been performed since 17th century, at Easter. If you visit Kalwaria whilst a Passion Play is on you'll find it a busy place. However, the rest of the year it is very peaceful and we didn't see any other tourists whilst we were there!
