Tourist town

Most people that go to Istria end up in either Pula, Porec or Ravinj. Whilst there are many tourists in Rovinj it manages to maintain quite a relaxed atmosphere.

Ravinj is across the water from Venice and this is evident in the food and the language. There is the Balbi Arch, crowned by the winged lion of St. Mark - the symbol of Venice. It was erected in 1680.

The old town was built on an island and was only joined to the mainland in 1763. Whatever direction you head in... all roads lead to the baroque church of St Euphemia. The bell tower is over 60m tall and was built in 1677, modelled on... the campanile of St Mark's in Venice.

Lots of restaurants and a very nice vibe.
Ravinj is conveniently located for exploring Istria & other parts of Croatia.

Sorry to hear about your chilly trip on Limski Canal. We only founfd this place when it was getting dark. Definitely one to return to but need to wrap up warm. Thanks, Mike
