From the UK, Calais is the traditionally popular port of Northern France. With ferries plentiful and the Eurotunnel too getting between the two countries is quick, convenient and can be quite cheap. There

Calais is a hot spot for day trippers from UK and indeed many people cross the Channel to Calais for shopping, in particular. In Cite Europe there it is not just cheap wines, beers and cheeses to be had. There are many items in the supermarkets which cost considerably less than in the UK, many pennies can be saved on the day to day mundane purchases such as fabric conditioner... and so the Brits leave stocked and loaded!

It's not all shopping though! Calais' sea front has a wonderful stretch of golden sand and there are some interesting building around - such as the Town Hall which is Flemish and celebrates the union of Calais and St Pierre in 1885.
