"What did I miss?" Sidi Bou Said by smirnofforiginal

Sidi Bou Said, Sidi Bou Said - guide book and people kept trying to convince us to go there so, dutifully we did. It is a very pretty hilltop village with cobbled streets, white-washed houses and blue accessorises eg. window grilles and doors.

There is a law that says all houses must retain the white and blue look.

However... I just didn't get it. Yes it is pretty but what was I doing there? What was there to do there?

At the top of the hill, where coach loads bring and drop of the tourists there are some stalls selling gifts and tat.

I did purchase a very nice painting from Sidi Bou Said which has since been framed and hanging on my stairs which I love and reminds me of my time in Tunisia (but strangely reminds not a bit of the place where I bought it!). So, in the long run yes, I am pleased I went there for otherwise I wouldn't have my lovely painting!

Go - make up your own mind and if I did miss the point of visiting... somebody tell me!
