Damaged by WWII...you would never know. It has been lovingly and carefully restored.
Joan of Arc was executed here in 1431 (place du Vieux Marche) and Monet painted the cathedral (Notre Dame).
Rouen has a nice vibe, lots of restaurants & everybody is very friendly.
The buildings are wooden fronted which is typical for Normandy.
Rouen is only a couple of hours south of Calais so it makes an ideal place to either break your journey or spend the night.
