Now that I have retired, I've discovered the joy of exchanging homes.
To date, I have enjoyed 6 exchanges.

I spent a summer (August and September) in Yorkshire, England and our Canadian winter in Perth Western Australia, 2 months in Holland, 10 days in Washington DC, 2 months in London, UK and 3 months in Prague.

Home exchanging allows me to spend more time than normal visiting an area, and discovering it in a little more detail. It's also fun to have a beer in the local pub with the neighbours, or discover an out-of -the-way restaurant.

My main interest is the theatre sound design, but I have also done some stage managing and set painting. I cannot act, and wouldn't even dare try.

Our theatre group gives me a lovely social life, with lots of gatherings, parties and festivals.

Now that I'm travelling more, I can visit theatres all over the world.
I have particularly enjoyed the Sydney Opera House and the many Broadway theatres in New York. Also, several years ago, in Perth Australia, I attended some of the productions of the Perth International Arts Festival - a world class event with plays from both Australia and overseas.
