Karibu to my homepage. Karibu means welcome in swahili. Yes, I normallyspeak norwegian but nowadays I try to learn swahili (its easy, but soooo difficult). Several times of the year I am traveling between Norway and Zanzibar were I have a nice Kibanda (small cottage made of coconuttree) My nickname in the small village Michemwi on the east coast of Zanzibar, is Mama Kibanda:-)

I love Africa and have been travel mostly in Tanzania and Ethiopia. In june I am heading for Kenya, then further on to Pemba Island and then filmfestival at Zanzibar.

Bergen - my hometown

the funicular goes to Fløien

Bergen is situated in the wester part of Norway. Bergen is surrounded by 7 mountains and a lot of fjords. You can take the funicular to Fløien and see the city from the "air" or you can walk along the harbor to see the ships and boats and visit the fish market. Bergen is a small town, compare to other European cities, but if the sun is shining its great and lovely. I love my town - when its not raining. BUT the problem: Bergen is known all around the world as the "city where it always rains". If you are lucky to be here when its sunny: take care - everybody is smiling, laughing and almost dancing. Have fun!

Norway the land of the mountains

norwegian people like to climb to the mountains. in the wintertime we go skiing, in the summertime we go walking/trekking. Nearly every norwegian are able to go ski, either crosscountry or down hill/snowboard.
some people climb steep mountains or walk on a glacier. even in the summer its possible to ski in special parts of norway.

wintertime in Norway

brrrrrrrr! its cold in Norway in the winter time. In the northern part it can be around minus45!!! than its almost impossible to breath! In the western part its seldom as cold as this, but it can be around minus 10, but mostly its raining, sometimes freezing to ice and then snowing. but its fun to play in the snow, to do snowman, snowballs and to use a sledge to go downhill.

The western part of Norway has a lot of fjords, mountains, glaciers, rivers and bridges. I love my country, but its toooo cold and tooo expensive!! But if you want to visit, you will enjoy - until you are going to pay the bill! :-))
Welcome to Norway - the country full of ice, snow, rain and cold atmosphere. BUT if the sun is shining, even the Norwegian people smile!! Bring a lot of money!

Norway - the land of the vikings. The vikings was great travelers, so I have a nice heritage. BUT they also did a lot of trouble. They raped, killed and fight along their way. The viking age is dated to around AD 800 - 1050,so some time ago:-) Luckily.
