"A small medieval town" Siena by joiwatani

Have you watched the James Bond Movie entitled Quantum of Solace?

At the beginning of the movie, there are scenes of a crowd roaring as the horses race while there was chasing of the characters in the midst of the spectators. These scenes were shot in Siena's famous piazza.

In the summer time, the piazza is filled with visitors as the town's main attraction is the horse race. These tourists flock to the piazz to watch the horse race.

The people cover the cobbled piazza with dirt, tons and tons of dirt, and transform this to a horse-racing arena!

When we arrived at the the town, it was buzzing with tourists eating at restaurants surrounding the piazza.

Some visitors just sat down close to the fountain. Some residents are just sitting there chatting, relaxing and wait for the passing of the day.

The Fortress

This is the fortress in Sienna. It is so tall that it becomes a very dominant, antique and famous structure of this Italian City.

Historically, this was built to protect the city from enemies.

The fountain

This is the famous fountain in Sienna. It is located at almost at the center of the piazza. Many visitors take their pictures with this fountain.

The fountain is decorated with medieval ornaments and sometimes they are used by the pigeons to perch on.

It is sometimes the meeting place of people who come to see this medieval town.
