Zakopane is a beautiful town located in Southern Poland in Tatry mountains. It is onle few hours from Krakow and it is really worth visit.

The history of Zakopane goes back some 400 years. However, the beginnings of this place are not exactely known. It appears to have come into being when the seasonal shepherds settlements became transformed into permanent abodes. It is understood that the Settlement prerogative ( missing ) was issued by King Stefan Batory in 1578.

My visit to Zakopane was on a very grey and damp day in July, 1998. Despite the weather I was still taken by this beautiful place. It is good, however, to see the sunlight on the hills. Thanks...Tom
