Mount Desert Island is really an ideal vacation, for everyone. If you like the outdoors, you're good. If you like shopping, you're good. If you like lolling around at your bed and breakfast, you can do that here. You can even hit a couple of museums. It's a good place to go with children. It's a great get away for couples. You can come here with your parents and grandparents. There are lovely vistas you can see without even leaving your car. There are stupendous views if you get out and walk a little. You can bike, hike, canoe, kayak, mountain climb, shop, drink excellent beer, eat the best lobster to be found on the eastern seaboard. Your every need or desire can be met on Mount Desert Island (MDI). You just need to go.

My husband spent two weeks every summer and took me there a few years ago. I immediately fell in love. The gentle spirit of Acadia National Park will take hold of your heart and doesn't really let go, belying a strength that you don't see right away.

We got married on MDI last year, that's how much we love the place. Many of the guests at are wedding had never visited MDI before. And many of those fell in love- these are the words that they used. Don't be surprised if you don't want to go anywhere else, ever!
