I Live in ROME!

by Italianmanboy - last update: Mar 31, 2007

Rome is a lovely place

There is lots to do in beautiful Rome. This is where I was born and have lived all of my life. I do never become tired of its beauty.

About Rome - some facts

Rome (Italian: Roma) is the capital city of Italy and of the Lazio region, as well as the country's largest and most populous comune. It is located in the central-western portion of the Italian peninsula, where the river Aniene joins the Tiber. Rome is one of the largest cities in the European Union.

The original language of Rome was Latin, which evolved a long time ago into Italian.

Rome is an important centre for music. It hosts the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia for which new concert halls were recently built in the new Parco della Musica, one of the largest musical venues in the world. Rome also has an opera house, the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, as well as several minor musical institutions. The city also played host to the Eurovision Song Contest 1991 and the MTV Europe Music Awards 2004.

Rome hosted the 1960 Summer Olympics

The historical centre is dominated by the traditional "Seven hills of Rome": the Capitoline, Palatine, Viminal, Quirinal, Esquiline, Caelian, and Aventine hills. Large parts of the ancient city walls remain.

The city of Rome surrounds the Vatican City.

Rome - weather

Rome enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate which characterises the Mediterranean coasts of Italy. It is at its most comfortable from April through June, and from mid-September to October; in particular, the Roman "ottobrata" (translated as "beautiful October day") is famously known for its sunny days and pleasant temperatures. By August, the temperature during the heat of the day often is more than 95° F; traditionally, many businesses close during August, and Romans leave the city for holiday, but this happens less, and the city is more remaining full during the whole summer, as there become more tourists as well as change in Rome's work habits. The average high temperature in December is about 55° F.
