St Julien Hotel and Spa: Boulder's Newest Upscale Hotel St. Julien Hotel And Spa Review

I haven't stayed here so I can't comment on the rooms but I have seen them and they are definitely pretty swanky. It's a new hotel and it was built to host conferences and such. it's also very pricey. There is a decent restaurant that hosts a pretty nice Happy Hour and decent Margaritas. The location is perfect as it is 1 block away from Pearl st. Within walking distance is livlier nightlife, better restaurants and shops, hiking in the mountains, biking and walking on the Boulder Creek path, the city library and grocery shopping.

As far as the hotel goes, only time will tell what people's reactions to it are. It was a long time in the planning process and now it's here. Personally, I prefer the charm and feel of the Boulderado.

<font color=blue>(The photo on the right is from the Boulderado Brochure)</font> The best hotel in Boulder by far is The Hotel Boulderado. It's even worth a visit if you're not staying there. It is an historical building and shows what Boulder used to be like in the early part of this century. But being that, it is also one of the most expensive.

Q's restaurant, located within the hotel, has excellent food with local flavor-native trout, wild game and vegetables are all specialties. The hotel has an upscale bar called (fairly uncreatively) the Corner Bar. It's really nice and relaxing to sit here sipping 20 year old scotch or just having one of the many local microbrews. Below it is the Catacombs bar with live blues music and the feeling that, yes, you are in the catacombs.

Unique Qualities: Lots of rich wood, stained glass atrium, history. Ritzy but not too much so that you would feel uncomfortable walking in with jeans and a tee-shirt. It's Boulder-what else would you expect?

Directions: It is also in the Pearl st area though not on Pearl st itself. I think it is on 13th st just a block north of Pearl. Just stop and ask anyone around you-even the tourists seem to know where it is.
