Definitely some areas on the plains-Pawnee Buttes Nat'l Grassland, Dinosaur Nat'l Monument. Both very interesting and very sparsley visited and populated areas. If you want solitude, a close approximation of the American landscape before the western expansion , and a feel for the Plains Indians, go to Pawnee Buttes in the early spring or late fall. The only sounds you'll hear are those of the Indian spirit guides-the eagle, the coyote, the owl, and the wind itself.
