So it is a bit of a walk up, they do have a shuttle service- you do have to pay for that. But I enjoyed the walk, most of which is in the woods. It is a very cool monument. We didnt get to stay long.

Stirling Castle also something you should visit.

Stirling Castle is a reconstructed castle, parts of it were blown up after the Jacobite revolution in the 1700s. They have a lovely chapel with an amazing stained glass window of Saint George and the Dragon. They also have a very cool tapestry weaving studios. They are currently recreating the Musee de Cluny, Paris, unicorn tapestry.

• Cons:you need at least a day to do the sites of stirling well.
