Pineapple Town

Though the pineapple industry may be the oldest agriculturally-exported crop in Malaysia, dating back to 1888, the palm oil and coconut have bypassed the thorny fruit in terms of importance. Still, this fruit is special and it has been captured in history with a town that has been named Pekan Nanas or Pineapple Town in Malay. So try a slice of the sweet-tasting pineapple, buy a bottle of pineapple jam, or just enjoy a glass of pineapple juice.

You may be able to find nuggets of interesting items to buy, and maybe, even some eclectic food to savour.
