Charleston in the springtime | View along East Bay Street near the Battery |
They say it is one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. We really enjoyed out trip to Charleston, it is a city rich in history and culture. Springtime is a wonderful time to go, as the summers can get unbearably hot. The flowers and foliage are plentiful in this city, so much to the point that you would think there was a law that you have to have a certain number of plants and flowers per home. Among the highlights of our trip was staying the historic district of the town, right on the harbor. Just walking along the battery gives you a sense of peace and tranquility. The lovely Charleston homes provide the perfect backdrop to the harbor and you can't help but imagine what life was like living in these homes back in 1800's. |
| | Southern Hospitality Still Exists! They also say it is the most friendliest city in the U.S. We found this to be very true. We stayed in a historic bed and breakfast called The Cabell House. The owner, Randy, showed us what true southern hospitality means. We also experienced this welcoming demeanor in our shopping and dining experiences. What breath of fresh air! |
Charleston is a wonderfully preserved city. Take a horse and carriage ride and in one hour you can learn a lot about Charleston's history. Between the earthquake, fires, and flooding you would be amazed that this city is still standing. | | |
