The amusing day trip to Pisa We took a day trip to Pisa from Fiesole, which was where we were staying in Tuscany. The ride was about an hour by highway and that was pretty easy. However, once we got in to Pisa, it was little more difficult. Like most tourists, our main goal was to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. There was not a single sign on the streets directing us to the tower, so we just tried to use a very primitive map in our guidebook to get there. Luckily, we were able to find a parking spot on a street within a block from the tower, all by chance! We spent the majority of our time at the "Field of Miracles," Pisa's religious center which consists of the Duomo, the Leaning Tower, the Baptisery, and the Cemetery. My first reaction to the leaning tower was to laugh. I couldn't believe how far it really leans! It was hysterical to me! |
