Awesome hill and district of Paris that has some great little streets, shops, artists and pubs. It has that small village feel that is a bit different from the other parts of Paris I have been to. We founds some great shopping spots and some awesome artists. Sacré-Cœur Basilica: Cathedral on the top of Montmartre- very beautiful on the outside. Have to be very quiet on the inside. Offers awesome views from here as well. You can take the funicular up to the top or climb the stairs- can be steep. The top of the steps usually attracts a crowd-sitting enjoying the view or local musician.

Louvre: Most visited art museum in the world!

The famous pyramid and architecture of this former fortress/palace is worth seeing even if you do not want to tour the museum. We went on the first Sunday of the month, thus the admission was free. There was a very long line but it moved quickly. The museum is too large to do in one day. We picked a couple of sections to focus on-what was interesting to us. We focused on the Italian paintings, including the Mona Lisa of course. We went through the Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities, such as the Venus d’ Milo and Nike of Samothrace. We also went through the Egyptian Antiquities and finally we visited Medieval Louvre- seeing the original fortress underground.

Beautiful gardens with pools/fountains and sculptures at the foot of the Louvre. This is one of my favorite spots in Paris. It is much nicer in the spring/summer (more barren during the fall).

Yes, you have to do this if you go to Paris. And maybe it is a huge tourist spot, but I just love the Eiffel Tower. You don’t realize how massive it is until you stand at the base of it. Go to all three levels and experience the views of beautiful Paris. Since the third level can close at any time without notice head there first, than work your way down. Enjoy a sandwich on a bench on the second level. We were brave and took the stairs down from first level- my legs were shakey, but it was fun and worth it. Costs- around 12 euros for all three levels per person. We were in Paris in October and the lines were not too bad- we waited about 30 minutes to get in. I suggest getting there early.

We loved the Sightseeing cruise down the River Seine! This was such a great way to see the city - Old Paris. We saw some great monuments and learned a lot of interesting history. There are audioguides included that will give you the tour in your language of choice. This is also a great way to rest your tired feet! The cost is 11 Euros- well worth it!

Famous arch with beautiful views of the city if you climb the many, many stairs. There is a gift shop half way up or so that actually has some really nice stuff. We climbed the arch at night and it was beautiful to see the city all lit up. We stayed to see the Eiffel Tower twinkle (which happens at the top of every hour). Note: Discount prices offered for students and people under the age of 25.

It was quite an experience to visit this very gothic church. I love the story of Quasimodo and the Gargoyles and it was really cool to see it in person. The stained glass is amazing!!!! There is some really cool artwork as well. Entry is free, have to be very quiet.

This is a must at night- this spot offers incredible views of the Eiffel Tower- which is such a sight at night glowing in it’s purple hues. Make sure to stick around to the top of the hour where the twinkle lights go off for 10 minutes.

It is worth it to just walk the right and left bank of the River Seine and see some of the bridges. Tragically, Hitler’s army mined some of the bridges in Old Paris, but thankfully there is plenty of beautiful of them left. I learned a lot about the history of the bridges from the Seine cruise.

Famous place that is located in a central spot of Paris. It is marked by the obelisk and fountains. The cars whizzing around this traffic circle can entertain you. It can also be quite risky crossing to get to this center. From here you can get to the Champs-Élysées (west) as well as the Tuileries Gardens (east) toward the Louvre.
