Thriving on Adventure

by nyonnetti - last update: Aug 23, 2009

New Adventures

I am so excited to be heading back overseas again this fall. We found an amazing deal on a mediterranean cruise through MSC cruise lines. This time my husband and I will be taking our 10 year-old daughter with us as we travel 5 different countries and 7 different ports. We will arrive in Barcelona a day early and I will get to show my husband and daughter some of my favorite spots there, such as La Boqueria Market, El Quatro Gatos, and the harbor.

About me

Besides traveling, I love to spend time with my friends. We take turns every weekend at one another's homes and have themed dinners. Our last one was Italian, in which we all made our favorite italian dishes. I cherish the times we have together and thankful to have such true friends. I also enjoy playing tennis (though I am not very good), taking pictures (again not an expert), reading, listening to music, and sharing my faith with others.
I am a nurse on a cardiac floor and also teach nursing students part-time at the local community college. I love to help people and be apart of their lives. I challenge myself to make connections with people who are in their most vulnerable state. I am so happy I made this career choice. I fund my traveling by working extra shifts at the hospital and saving!

Travel plans for the future: Besides our mediterranean cruise this fall, I plan to visit Italy in the next year or so again. I have a real obsession with that country. I would like to explore more of Tuscany, Sicily, and Calabria. We are also planning on taking a family trip with my parents to Scotland, as this is where my father was born. Someday I will get my husband to agree to a trip to the far east, such as Singapore, Japan, and Vietnam.

For now I will be thankful for my family and wonderful travel experiences. I remind myself daily that many people in this world struggle to just put enough food on the table. Cherish each day!

Busy Year

2009
February: We went to Puerto Rico for a couple days and then took a 7 day Royal Caribbean cruise to the islands of: Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas.
May: Weekend trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
June: June was a very busy month! We started the month with a trip to New York to visit family. In New York we took a day to visit Lake Minnewaska, one of my favorite spots in upstate NY. We also visited Howe Caverns, a place I hadn't been back to since my childhood. After New York, we came back to North Carolina and then my cousin and I went back to Myrtle Beach for a couple of days. Myrtle Beach is so much fun! Lastly, we went to Michigan for 8 days to visit more family. While in Michigan, we took a day trip to Ohio's Cedar Point amusement park. Whew!

2008
February: We went to Florida to take our daughter to Disney/Universal Studios. We stayed with friends at a timeshare and had a fabulous time.
May: My mom and I visited Charleston, SC for a long weekend. We really enjoyed the "low country"-is a beautiful city.
June: We went to Michigan to visit family.
September: Asheville, NC for the Brew Grass Festival. We camped on the French Broad River-very beautiful and peaceful.
October: Trip to Normandy, Paris, and Barcelona with my brother.
December:Visit to New York to see family and spend a day shopping in Manhattan.

Survived France and Spain

My brother and I took an amazing trip to France and Spain. My brother and I are so close but he is in Michigan and I live in North Carolina. We don't get to see each other but once or twice a year so when I asked him if he was interested in accompanying me to Europe he gladly accepted! He is a college student, 13 years younger than I, and never had been to Europe. I am so happy to have had that time with him. See my travel pages for our exciting adventure!
Spanish steps

I love to travel!

I was able to do some traveling to Europe after high school but since then have been dormant for 13 years to finish college and raise a family, with the exception to small trips to Asheville, NC. Finally though, I was able to convince my husband (who would work the rest of his life without a vacation if I didn't force him to go away) to go to Italy in 2007. All I can say is that Italy is amazing and after that trip there is no way that I can stay grounded now! I am working on my travel pages (and searching for my old journal from my travels around Europe 13 years ago) so stay tuned for more!

Drive through Andorra if you can. It's a very pretty place and well worth the time.
