Day 1 in Sydney The plane got in from Fraser Coast at 11:35 on Friday 13th. I got out of the airport, and my long-awaited adventure begun. After spending an hour getting out of the airport i finally found my Hostel and booked in. I then went shopping. Sydney is one of the finest places in Australia for shopping, even if you're looking for hard to find computer parts like i was. If you know where to go you can get practically anything in Sydney. And i do mean ANYTHING.
I grabbed dinner, and then went out to Darlinghurst. Had a good night, but it was only a sign of things to come. |
Day 2 in Sydney This morning i woke up and knew exactly what i had to do. I had to explore this wonderful city. I started by going on the monorail. The monorail is a bit exy for what it is, but it is very nice. :) After that i decided to go out to Circular Quay. I took heaps and heaps of photos of the Opera House. You can't take enough photos of the Opera House, so make sure you have a BIG memory card or LOTS of film!
I then decided to go to Sydney Tower. I went to the Observation deck, took about 50 photos, and then went on OzTrek. OzTrek is just incredible. The way its done its almost as if you're there. It is just incredible. You have to see it for yourself.
After Sydney Tower i took the train to North Sydney and walked back into the City via the Harbour Bridge, where i took even more photos of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge itself. Its a fair ol' hike, but definately worth every bit of it.
Tonight i started off my night by going to the Fortune of War. Its a nice place...quiet, but nice. Then i went to Kings Cross. WOW! KC is just amazing. And as long as you're careful its quite safe. In fact i've felt extremely safe the entire time i've been in Sydney, even when in places like KC and Darlinghurst. I think as long as you don't do anything stupid, really you should be fine. |
Day 3 in Sydney (Powerhouse Museum This morning i went to the Powerhouse Museum. It costs $10 normally but since i'm a university student, i was able to get in for $5. I went here once in 1992 when i was a kid, and i loved it. But i wanted to go again. So i went today. Its changed a LOT. Its a huge place, with 5 floors of exhibits. There's something here for everyone...whether you're into design, engineering, space, history, or if you want to take the kids somewhere fun. There's heaps of hands-on activities too. If you explore the entire museum it will take up a full day but its definately worth it. I got there at about 11 am and i was there until they shut. While i was there i got to see plenty of wonderful things, such as the prototype ECOmmodore hybrid electric Holden Commodore and an original Apple Computer I, to name just a few. It made for a very interesting day, thats for sure. :) Tonight i'm just relaxing in the net cafe here at Base Backpackers and having an early night as i fly out tomorrow morning. :( This holiday has been nothing short of absolutely wonderful. I have totally fallen in love with it, and i can say i'll definately be back for another go. I don't know when exactly, but i definately will. And thats for certain.
All i can say is that getting on that plane going back home tomorrow is going to be hard. I have just absolutely fallen in love with this wonderful place known as Sydney. You know how sometimes you go somewhere and it just seems to fit you like a glove? Thats Sydney for me. I don't know why, but it just seems to be a perfect fit for me. I could probably spend my entire life here without complaint. |
