Winter in Iceland

Most of tourists come to Iceland in summer and that means that prices are way more bigger then, a lot more bigger..:) *hint*
Oh yes, it´s rainy, snowy, stormy... but where on earth would you get ur frozen body to outdoor geothermal swimming pools and hot baths? (it´s not even Blue Lagoon, trust me, those baths are on every corner in Iceland). You also may see Aurora Borealis (northern lights) only in winter. Got bored of the Alps? How about skiing in Iceland? :)

The Circumstances

Me, Egle, has just arrived to my boyfriend´s Sigthor´s hometown - Reykjavik. At first, it looks cold and grey, but when you have some time to explore Europe´s northern most capital, it blooms out in all the most beautiful colours of the World.

We have not done much here yet because of the storm around New Years Eve and terribly short days (you have to get used to that) but we are planning so MUCH to go around Reykjavik and see all touristic spots :) stay with us :)

New Years Eve in Iceland

Every year Icelanders import more and more fireworks :) This year it was over 1000 tones! Have in mind, that it´s only 300.000 people living in the island. If there is no wind on New Years Eve, prepare yourself to spend a night in a smoke.. of fireworks :)
Anyhow, it´s worth breathing smoke after aproximatelly 2 hours non-stop fireworks shooting :)

Icelanders also have huge fireplaces around the country to burn the old year on New Years Eve. Sometimes they postpone burning them because of strong wind that may cause big problems but it´s worth waiting to see huge huge hugggge fire places.

Pros:"Endless hot and cold water, New Years Eve"
Cons:"Prices, storms in wintertime, darkness"
In A Nutshell:"Unique country"
