hot and humid; warm and friendly

the weather in iloilo city in late february is hot and humid but the friendliness around never flagged.

i was born in iloilo city, and now have settled in metro manila. but time and again, the old hometown beckons. yes, the old landmarks are nearly gone, the old genteel districts are now dowdy, like a dowager in need of a fresh bath, and pseudo post-modern buildings erected in place of the torn-down buildings; but the distinct salty air and the unhurried pace of the old city still remain.

ive stayed in one of the newer boutique hotels (highway21, along gen luna) and had one of the best services in years!
but you can still see vestiges of the old grandeur, the spanish villa or hacienda mansion in the middle of a business block!!

Very helpful hotel tip. Hope to see more pics and tips from a fellow Ilonggo. Yes, the city's architectural heritage is crumbling fast - very, very alarming.
