Take the R261 from Ardara towards Portnoo, just before you get to Kilclooney you will see the Dolmen to your right in a field. Park your car at the Dolmen Centre (Eco-Tourism Centre, see tip) and walk over to Kilclooney Church. to the left of it, there is a path in the grass that will lead you up to the Dolmen. It is on the land of a farmer, who is well used to people visiting the Dolmen, just close the gate behind you and don't be afraid of the friendly dog that will lead the way for you!
This Dolmen is a Portal Tomb, dating back to approx. 2000 BC.
In the Dolmen Centre you will find more information on local History & Geology.

Kilclooney Wood Co. Donegal
Just a few miles outside Glenties on the road to Dungloe there is a signpost on your left for "Bonny Glen" this is also known as Kilclooney Wood. A hidden lake amidst forest.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk around the lake.
I you feel like a longer walk, carry on straight ahead and you will pass a second smaller lake and come to a third one called Lough Namanlagh.
If you are on the R261 from Kilclooney towards Maas, take the turn off for 'Narin/Portnoo' it is a narrow countryroad, first you get to Narin Strand and continue on towards Portnoo and maybe leave your car on the side of the road and walk 5 minutes down to the pier, as the road to it is very narrow and windy.
This is a pretty little harbour from which you can see across to Narin Beach and Inniskeel Island. There is a coastal walk for those without vertigo (the path is narrow and in some places, steep rocks fall about 20 metres straight into the ocean) the path is just opposite the pier and it takes about 30 min. and you come to a green meadow beside a little brooke, there is plenty of watercress at certain times of the year.
