Tourist Trap: Charles Bridge - the crowds

    • Want to have romantic walk, enjoy the beauty of the bridge - go there around 7 - 8 in the morning or very late in the evening. Othervise it is busy as main railway station in peak hour with pseudo-artists selling their merchandise.

    By the way, you can see reconstruction works done on the bridge also.

    • Czech made goods in airport shops are often 2 times more expensive than in the city.

    Also coffee and snacks are charged at outrageous prices.

    Alternative: There are some nice gift packages/boxes in airport shops not available elsewhere, but if you are mainly interested in content - buy presents in the city!

    • Worst exchange rates usualy are at the airport and exchange booths directly on the Wenceslas or Old city sqares.

    Also rates at supermarkets, hotel receptions and restaurants are a ripp-off. Pay in Czech krowns, not EUR or USD.

    Alternative: From my experiences the best rates could be found:
    - Exchange in the "TeTa" passage - "Jungmannova" street - No 28,
    -small Exchange in metro B vestibule downstairs at junction of the "Jungmannova", "Perlova" and "Narodni" streets,
    - Several exchanges in "Opleatlova" and "Politickych veznu" streets - close to Wenceslas street.
