  • This is model of whole city of that time made from paper by one person. It is very precise and detailed - there are even painted broken windows on some buildings!

That is very interesting and unique exhibit.

    From www.prague.net:
"Langweil’s model of Prague is one of the most extraordinary and most admired exhibit in the Museum of the City of Prague. What is it so special about it? Many things! Langweil’s model of Prague is a paper and wood model that shows Prague what it looked like about 150 years ago. Many buildings in the model cannot be found in present Prague any more. It’s especially in the Jewish quarter and Old Town where many building were demolished. Langweil’s model is in many cases the only witness of these buildings and it serves as a study material for many Prague’s historians and lovers of art.

The model was created in a scale of 1:480 and it is remarkable in many details it shows. You can see the facade of the houses and details of city gardens, backyards and public spaces. Miniature Prague covers 20 square meters and it shows more than 2,000 objects."

    It is presented in
PRAGUE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM (MUZEUM HLAVNÍHO MESTA PRAHY) Prague 8, Na Porící 52 (next to "Florenc" metro stop).

    Open: daily except Mondays 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Admission: full CZK 80, reduced CZK 30 (students, seniors, handicapped persons), family CZK 160, children under 6 years of age free.

  • I know. most of the tourists come to see the architecture.

But Prague Zoo is now ranked No 7 best in the world by Forbes!!

It is well worth the visit. Especially the "Polynesian jungle" pavilion which is the biggest tropical pavilion in Europe. It is truly amazing!

Now Prague ZOO has 7 Indian Gavial crocodiles from 19 living outside India - the only place in Europe!

Take bus N112 from "Nadrazi Holesovice".

From April 5th till October there will be special (FREE !!) "ZOO" bus line on weekends and public holidays.
It will also start from "Nadrazi Holesovice", directly to Zoo without stops, interval 10 minutes, 9-18 h.

    Nearby is also Botanic garden.

  • Many movies, music videos or advertisements are made on locations in Prague.

Each week somewhere in the city movie crew is working. Sometimes it is in tourist frequented locations or even some central streets are closed.

Probably it is not likely that you will see A. Jolie or S. Connery working, but can still can have a peek into the "kitchen" of movie making.

Want to visit places which appear in "Casino Royale", "Mission: Impossible", "Van Helsing", "Hostel" and others - try to get special map in Prague information offices (PIS - Prazska Informacni Sluzba")
