Millaa Millaa Falls

These falls are very popular for tourists to visit. I am so lucky because I can go when no one else is around and sit and enjoy the peace and solitude of this postcard perfect place on the Tableland waterfall circuit.

I find early morning or dusk the best time,but the locals say between noon and 2pm is the best time so who am I to argue..

Enter the waterfall circuit, 2klm off the Palmerston Highway from Millaa Millaa side.
They have toilets,shelters,BBQ's and a kiosk.

Mungalli falls/rapids

Follow the waterfall circuit to this pretty place.
The water is freezing and unsuitable for swimming.
The location is along Juction Road,which joins Palmerston Highway as a cresent,this is a single lane road and in dairy cattle area take a look at the scenery and you will see Mnt Bartle Frere ( Queensland highest mountain) in the background.This is one of the highest waterfalls on the Tableland,it runs over a cliff of basalt columns.The cascades in my picture is above the main fall,there is a track that takes you down but it is very steep and slippery but well worth it.
This is part of the Mungalli Falls rainforest & Student Village,public toilets,a kiosk and accommodation is available.

This is a green and rich soil area that is suited for dairy cattle and vegetable/fruit farming ,this area also has a tea plantation along the Palmerston Highway.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Beautiful waterfalls,lakes,and country roads.
Cons:Watch out for potholes on the roads.
In a nutshell:Fabulous waterfalls and off the beaten track surprises.

Hi Dorrise - great photo and so true. What is it with you guys and girls in FNQ? Your kids are so feral that warning signs are put up - LOL
