At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. From the observation decks, lounge, restaurant, meeting & banquet space and private dining rooms, guests enjoy panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding valley. Visitors to the Tower are whisked from ground level to the observation decks in less than 30 seconds in double decker elevators traveling at speeds of 1,800 feet per minute or three floors a second. The top of the tower has an observation deck, revolving restaurant, a Starbucks (which is known to be the highest location for a Starbucks in the world) Thrill seekers can enjoy excitement over 100 stories above the ground on the Big Shot, X Scream and Insanity thrill rides. The Big Shot at 1,081 feet (329 m) is the highest thrill ride in the world and it catapults riders up a portion of the tower at 45 miles per hour; Insanity the Ride at 900 feet (274 m) is the second highest thrill ride in the world, it dangles riders over the edge of the tower and then spins in a circular pattern at approximately forty miles per hour, the Ride spins riders over the edge of the tower at a rate of three Gs. XSCREAM at 866 feet (264 m) is the third highest thrill ride in the world. This ride also "drops" people over the edge and is a giant teeter-totter that flings riders over the edge of the tower and back.

Boulder Dam or HOOVER DAM, is a concrete gravity-arch dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada (it also acts the border between the Pacific Standard Time and Rocky Mountain Standard Time!) The dam is located 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Las Vegas, and is named after Herbert Hoover.Construction began in 1931 and was completed in 1935. The dam and the power plant are operated by the Bureau of Reclamation of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, Hoover Dam was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1985. Hoover Dam was without precedent, the greatest dam constructed in its day. An arch-gravity structure rising 726 feet above bedrock, Hoover is still the Western Hemisphere's highest concrete dam. It is 660 feet thick at its base, 45 feet thick at its crest, and stretches 1,244 feet across the Black Canyon. There are 4.4 million cubic yards of concrete in the dam, power plant and related structures. Hoover Dam pioneered the Bureau of Reclamation's efforts in multiple-purpose water resources development. The dam controls floods while it stores water for irrigation, municipal, and industrial uses. The dam also provides hydroelectric power generation, recreation and fish and wildlife habitat. Lake Mead is the reservoir created behind the dam, named after Elwood Mead, who oversaw the construction of the dam. Hoover Dam serves as a crossing for U.S. Route 93 but more than that, It is an attraction in it's own right. The Fountains of Bellagio attraction consists of an intricate water fountain display set to light and music. The display takes place in front of the Bellagio hotel and can be viewed from the Strip. The fountain show takes place every 30 minutes in the afternoons and early evenings, and every 15 minutes from 8 pm to midnight. Exceptions: a single or string of shows may be withheld when winds prevail; a single show may be skipped to avoid interference with a planned event. The Fountains were created by WET Design, who specializes in creating intricate water shows. The design incorporates an array of underwater pipes with over 1,000 nozzles that makes it possible to stage fountain displays coordinated with over 4,000 lights and music. [1] Three types of nozzles are used for the various effects: * Oarsmans - Swing back and forth to create dancing water * Shooters - Shoots water upwards * Super Shooters - Sends a water blast as high as 250 ft (76 m) in the air. Experience the most ambitious, commanding water feature ever conceived! Bellagio's world-famous fountains will speak to your heart with opera, classical and whimsical music while flirting with your playful nature through their carefully choreographed movements. The Luxor is located on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip, opposite the McCarran International Airport. The resort is flanked by the Mandalay Bay to the south and by the Excalibur to the north; all three are connected by free express and local trams. All three properties were built by Mandalay Resort Group. The building is a 30 story tall pyramid (fourth largest pyramid in the world!) that brings you into an Egyptian paradise with a mysterious air. Over the course of your stay, you will see awe-inspiring sights that will remain with you after you leave from your vacation. The Luxor Las Vegas is one of the well known hotel and casinos that help give Vegas such a shining reputation. When the resort opened, it featured a more heavily Egyptian-themed interior, including a river that encircled the casino with a ferry that would carry guests to their inclinator core at the corners of the pyramid. According to the unofficial ghost story, the Nile River attraction was removed because guests kept seeing ghosts of the three workers killed during the Luxor's construction whenever the river passed through dark tunnels. Luxor has a 120,000 square foot casino. This casino keeps with the Egyptian theme, while remaining one of the largest and most elegant casinos in Las Vegas. There are a wide variety of games available for play, which allows everyone to find something of interest to them. Attractions include: The Tomb of Tutankhamun (This replica of the tomb discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter is a great sight to see if you are interested in the history and glamor of Egypt. It is open daily from 9 A.M. to 11 P.M. Admittance is $5); In Search of the Obelisk ( Considered one of the best motion simulator rides in Las Vegas, it is well worth the $7.50 to ride) In order to be able to ride this ride, you will need to be over 42 inches tall); Luxor IMAX (This 68 foot by 48 foot screen lets you see some of the most interesting shows on a huge screen that pulls you into the action. Admission fees to see the show is $9.95)

The Excalibur Hotel and Casino hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, in the United States. It is owned and operated by MGM Mirage. Excalibur, named for the mythical sword of King Arthur, uses the Arthurian theme in several ways. Its facade is a stylized image of a castle, with a wizard like figure representing Merlin looking out from a high turret. Excalibur is situated at the Tropicana - Las Vegas Boulevard intersection. The intersection is so busy that pedestrians are not allowed to cross at street level. Instead, Excalibur is linked by overhead pedestrian bridges to its neighboring casinos to the north (the New York-New York Hotel & Casino, across Tropicana Avenue) and to the east (the Tropicana Resort & Casino, across the Strip). There is also a free tram that connects Excalibur to its sister MGM Mirage properties to the south, the Luxor and Mandalay Bay hotel and casinos. The three casinos are also connected to each other, so it is possible to walk between the three of them without having to go outside. When you enter the large lobby, you will encounter the sights that you would expect from the renaissance period. Coats of Arms, and 'antique' decor greet you and submerse you in the festivities from the start. If you arrive before check in, you can visit one of the many floors, one of which includes a faire that will awe and delight you with the bright colors, medieval style music, and performers. Some sections of the hotel have entertainers you can watch for free. Entertainment at the Excalibur includes the Tournament of Kings (a dinner with a Knight Joust at $50), Merlin's Magic Motion Machines at $4. The International Buffet at Roundtable Buffet Restaurant was A Ok at $22.

Treasure Island is a 2,885--room hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, USA and is connected by tram to The Mirage. The resort and casino opened in 1993 and originally intended to attract families with features such as a large video arcade and staged pirate battles nightly in "Siren's Cove" in front of the casino entrance on the Strip (Featuring the Sirens of Treasure Island free show, This show, taking place on a 4 football sized water filled field, brings the fantasy of Treasure Island where you can experience it up close. The show, a 12 minute story of Sirens luring men to their cove, makes use of music, dancing, singing and a high level of energy that brings you even closer to the action. The show runs four times a day, at 5:30, 7, 8:30 and 10 P.M.) another famous show here is Cirque De Soleil which cost $95. this hotel is evolving into the hot spot for adults in Las Vegas. The jury is still out on Treasure Island's decision to pursue a trendy, younger crowd by nicknaming itself TI. Gone are the distinctive skull-and-crossbones outdoor sign and the indoor pirate theme. Fronting the resort is a huge body of water -- now called Siren's Cove instead of Buccaneer Bay -- that is the crux of the new TI. Instead of pirates and sailors duking it out, sexy sirens lure pirates into the cove in a kitschy show with pop music.
