Drive Around The Area

Like what I've Said Before Driving in the Maharlika Highway from the Pagudpud Section of Ilocos Norte to the Sanchez Mira Section in Cagayan Province offers breathtaking views of wide and pristine beaches backed by mountains with breathtaking rugged cliffs, waterfalls, along with the many cool, refreshing springs and Shipwrecks. One Advantage of this Part of the Highway is that it has White Sand Beaches! unlike Big Sur in Central California, which has no white sands.

It Rivals the views of Big Sur in California - Pagudpud

It Rivals the views of Big Sur in California

Patapat Viaduct

The Part of Maharlika Highway (Pan Philippine Highway) in Pagudpud was a dangerous area before since the highway was located near the rugged mountain clliffs and landslides always destroy the road often with human casualties hence the government decided in 1975 to just built a viaduct that bypasses the rugged and landslide prone cliffs. Patapat Viaduct, a 1.3 km concrete coastal bridge that connects the Maharlika Highway from Laoag, Ilocos Norte to the Cagayan Valley Region, was born. Patapat Viaduct is the 4th longest bridge in the Philippines. Located more than 16 kilometers from Pagudpud town proper, it offers a scenic view of Pasaleng Bay, a view that leads towards wide and pristine beaches backed by mountains with breathtaking waterfalls and numerous streams. It is an area that Rivals Big Sur in Central California in Sheer Beauty.

Waterfall, Freshwater Resort and Beach

This is part two of my Aqua Grande River Park tips in Pagudpud and this time with older pictures in the River Park Area. Agua Grande River Park is a combination of Waterfall, stone laden brook falling to the sea and pebble rich gray sand beach. This River park is located just 1 kilometer after the Patapat Viaduct. Locals and tourist go here for it's very cheap area for swimming (cost only 20 pesos a person). you can choose to bath at a mini waterfall located near the Road or swim at the man made spring water pool near the brook or even swim at the brook itself (warning, the brook is full of irregular small and large pebbles and rocks so watch your step!) you can also swin at the pebble laden gray sand beach below (warning, the beach here is slippery). This park unfortunately doesn't offer ovenite accomodations.

Directions: Pagudpud Town, Ilocos Norte Province, PH, 2900. About 1 kilometer after the Patapat Viaduct.

Pagudpud beach - Pagudpud

Pagudpud beach

Pagudpud Beach

Actually Pagudpud Beach is a Generic Term, the white sand beach of pagudpud lies mostly in one barangay, barangay Saud so a more apropiate term for it is Saud White Beach, other white sand beaches don't have a long cosstline like saud beach, these beaches are Maira-ira and Pansian. Most of the resorts are here, most of the water activities are here and most of the tourist stay here! Boracay has finer and more shiny white sand than here in Saud Beach but the advantage here is the commercialism is not as prevalent as in boracay hence you can still have more privacy here than in Boracay. This Beach is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Laoag City.
