"Hakone...Land of Hot Springs" Hakone by giampiero6

Hakone Travel Guide: 144 reviews and 359 photos

Hakone is a mountain get away, not too far from Tokyo. The winding narrow roads that lead into the mountains are often choked with traffic, although the bus trip up was not bad for us. Off hours, during the week.

Hakone is known as hot springs central and has a bunch of traditional bed and breakfast spots (tatami room, yukata, and dinner included).

You'll have many choices of hot springs. From the very expensive to the more moderately priced. We paid approximately 1000 Y per person for a mid level spot.

I also recommend my local customs tips for Japan and also my Kyoto , Tokyo Pages.
