| The Man In the Purple Velour! |
Cool little commercial fishing port and Victorian City. A little bit like a blue collar mini-San Francisco. (well a little) They make some kind of claim about being the oldest continually inhabited city in the US west of the Mississippi. But as my friend Agbat pointed out the mission cities in New Mexico and California are older so they must mean oldest American city.
The enigmatic figure above is the man we called "The Dude in the Purple Jacket." For some reason after several cocktails, The Dude in the Purple Jacket seemed hilarious to me and I asked my friend to take a picture. You may find him in Astoria..then again you may not...that's why he's enigmatic. (this pic was taken at the Ship's Inn...see the warning below)
