Manhattan Beach is a quaint little seaside town a few minutes from Los Angeles Airport. It's got a mellow so-cal surf and cocktail vibe, dude.

Once a year it becomes the setting for this insane fiesta or volleyball and costumed wackos. Back in the day, it was the centerpiece of VT's Member Weekender.

This is what summer looks like when the insanity has subsided. Let me specify...this is what LATE summer looks like, because even though people think it's sunny and 80 everyday in LA (it often is in summer) the beaches can be cold and super foggy in May, June and even July. Cold Pacific Ocean + Hot Inland Temps = May Gray. June Gloom. July Why (I made the last one up). So if you come visit during that period, be prepared for some cold gray days. The best time to visit the beach is August. It's warmer, the water has warmed up too, and chance of interruption is minimal. Maybe there will be a few less tourists too. I like the beach best after Labor Day, because even though, psychologically people think the summer is over and leave, I think it's just beginning. Word.

As you may know, VT is headquartered in Manhattan Beach. It's a great place to work, and pretty much anyone who starts working here and doesn't live here (I'm too hip for the beach) ends up living here. We have a great team of people here. Smart, hard working, committed, and real great to work with. Here's some of the crew during a crazy night at Sushi.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Nice, quaint, walkable with a pier and downtown shops, bars, and restaurants.
  • Cons:Kinda like the O.C. in the L.A.
