Downhill Skiing. Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo.

If you're coming to this part of the world in the winter, you absolutely cannot miss skiing here. Madonna di Campiglio is one of Europe's Premier ski resorts with a huge terrain that covers 2 sides of the valley. While Pinzolo is much smaller and often has less snow, there are plans afoot (have been for years and now finally about to be realized) that will connect the two resorts with a world cup class downhill run and more lifts. This would make a large and beautiful resort although some are concerned about environmental drawbacks.

Equipment: You can rent ski's in Pinzolo and Campiglio. My favorite spots are Nardis Sport and Il Laboratorio in Pinzolo and Lorenzetti Sport in Campiglio.
