... Magic names: The Yukon, The Klondike, Whitehorse, Dawson, Bonanza... And, of course, Jack London! Been there done that? No way-it all still seems surreal to me! I might have to go back to find my own footprints and make sure it wasn't all a dream... :-)
Besides, it's the first time in my life I had my birthday cake stolen by a squirrel!

The Yukon

... as seen from the road, a safer, more relaxing way to get to Dawson than the one the stampeders experienced during the gold rush... Still, the whole trip from Skagway is pretty moving when you keep an eye on the ground these people had to cover, loaded with a ton of goods, to reach their goal - some of them never to find gold or even stay longer than a few days... Evocative 'Dead Horse Trail', still littered with rusted gear and... bones...

The Klondike, the Klondike, the Klondike!

A few miles to go before I reach Dawson and... the Klondike! The KLONDIKE! KLON-DIKE! Almost like a mantra in my head, on and on, I start saying it out loud - I'm trying to realize... Probably my number one activity during this whole trip: trying to realize, eyes wide open! :-D

• Pros:A land of nature and history which touches the soul
• Cons:I heard mosquitoes make it hell - just get there before THEY do!
• In a nutshell:The land is the gold!
