"Wellingborough - Northamptonshire" Wellingborough by earthflyer

What can I say about Wellingborough, well it's home for a start I have lived and worked here all my life. I now live with my parants again after selling my flat 2 years ago so I could travel and do another long trip which lasted 14 months but that trip eneded back in July 2006. I am back into full time work now so the plan is to get some money together and get another place for myself by next summer.

Wellingborough is not really a tourist destination, it does have abit of history but not enough to bring in the tourists. The kind of tourist we do see around here are more of Old Age Pensioners doing there bus trips & foreign workers from Eastern Europe.

I do feel that Wellingborough is missing out on entertainment at the moment but this town is growing quite quick so maybe their are plans for entertainment in the future. In the pass it did have a Palace Cinema but was closed down, but unfortunaly they have not built a new one in Wellingborough yet but they do keep on talking about. The town has got a bowling Alley, snooker clubs and two nightclubs and many pubs but nothing else for a big town like Wellingborough. It is disapointing but there are plans to revamp the town once again as they continue to expand the size of Wellingborough.

Waendel Walk
The very popular Waendel walk is held here in Wellingborough and the surrounding countryside every year in May and has been taking place for over 25 years now. Its brings the local people and foreigners together for the weakend walk. The event is held over 3 days with a short walk around Wellingborough on the Friday Evening and Saturday and Sunday is the main attraction. You do have a choice of walks and activites that you can do. walks range from 9 - 18 - 26 miles or you can do a combination of walking Cycling and swimming. The Waedal Walk is International and held in many other countries around the World.

Nene Way
Other walks you can do in the area is Follow the River Nene which passes through Northamptonshire and finishes in the Wash near King's Lynn. The Nene Way takes in many of the small villages dotted along the Nene Valley. I am currently walking the Nene way in stages at the moment so why not check my travel pages on this walk but it will be a few months before they are finished. Ramblers

Motorsports
Northamptonshire is home to Drag Racing at Santapod, Rockingham Speedway for Oval Racing in Corby and home to Formula One - British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Santapod Racing - Rockingham Speedway - F1 British Grand Prix

Midland Mainline Trains
Wellingborough does sit on the Midland Mainline so you can get to the London Underground and Airports far easier than by road except for Stanstead.

Other than That Wellingborough is just a typical town in England.
