There are three primary areas that make up the town of Haddam Connecticut, they are Haddam and Higganum on the west side of the Connecticut River and Haddam Neck on the east side. There are several smaller districts including Burr, Tylerville, Shailerville, Pine Brook. There is no bridge that connects the portions on the two sides of the CT River, you must travel south through East Haddam, or north through Middletown, Portland and East Hampton. There is very little industry in town, but back in the days of waterpower there many small mills on both sides of the river. Thre is little agriculture in town now; it is mostly wooded, but the young trees and stone walls provide a glimpse of the agrarian past. The town has numerous bodies of water and streams and rivers including the Connecticut and Salmon Rivers, and Pine Brook.
