Welcome to Los Angeles Having lived in Los Angeles for the past 34 years (including my childhood, teens, college/grad school, professional life, and even as a family man), I probably know this city as well as anyone. Having benefited from other people's tips or simply been entertained by other people's thoughts and stories, I thought I owed to my fellow VTers to at least build and add to my hometown pages periodically. Therefore, these pages will always be a work in progress. Hopefully, I can add a tip or two that will make someone's visit to LA a little more fun. In my life, I have experienced more than my share of nightlife, dining out, and sporting events in LA. If you have questions, please feel free to email me. Who knows... maybe I can even come out and join my fellow VTers visiting my city ... |
First time Tourists Looking back, I have entertained a couple of out-of-town guests in their first visit to LA. Typically, I think the best photo opportunities to say you visited Los Angeles are: 1) Beaches (Santa Monica and Venice Beaches are probably the most touristy), but my favorite are Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach (mainly locals). 2) Hollywood Blvd (Mann Chinese Theatre and Kodak Theatre). Walk along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 3) Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills for window shopping. 4) The Grove or Third Street Promenade or Beverly Center for shopping/eating/people watching. 5) Griffith Observatory (newly reopened) - great view of the entire city 6) Disneyland & Universal Studios - theme parks are typically fun and these are probably the two you want to go if you come to LA. These pictures will likely be your postcard pictures and best touristy type activities of Los Angeles. |
Koreatown It seems that many of my friends are Korean, and they all show up in Los Angeles to check out the biggest Korean scene outside of Korea. Being young, many want to eat really good Korean food and check out the famous Koreatown nightlife. Being dubbed as king of Ktown at one point in my life, I will have a lot of tips on this part of town. If anyone would like some info on this area that I haven't written up, please send me an email, and I would be happy to give you my best advice. |
