Let's go to France | Walking along the Waterfront, Cadaqués, Spain |
Our trip to Cadaques was one of those trips that everyone thinks of when they think of student travel in Europe. It was an unbooked weekend, a rarity in our four month stay in Spain, and someone wanted to go to France, just to be able to say they had been to France. We pulled out a map, and decided that France was not that far away from Barcelona. So we went to France. We stopped for the first night in Cadaques, knowing nothing about the little town besides that Dali was born there and it was "romantic." After taking a train to Figueres, we met up with another travelling student from England, by chance, who was going to Cadaques to see what had become of his favorite childhood vacation spot. Then My four friends and our new travelling buddy bussed our way into Cadaques. |
Cadaques We arrived in town at about 11pm to find nearly nothing. It was very cold, not the ideal time of year to visit a small fishing town high on the Costa Brava. Somehow we stumbled our way into town and found a sign that read hostal. No rooms available, she said, but there were apartments. We got a two bedroom apartment with linens and towels and a full kitchen and balcony for 90 euros and moved in. Then it was time for dinner... |
