Charm in its Essence | Tango till They Sore (Buenos Aires 2004) |
Thanks for visiting my Buenos Aires page! Don't forget to leave your footprint Go to My Home Page What is that make Bs As so special? Everyone has his/her own story to tell but eventually almost everyone would agree Bs As has a unique charm. It has to be the vibrancy of a city and its people which daily celebrate life with the exceptionality of their routine life. As matter of fact you won't find in Bs As amazing history and architecture like in Rome or Paris, nor dramatic sceneries like in San Francisco or Rio de Janeiro, nor the multicultural environment and the urban vitality of London or New York, but eventually Bs As will strike you to the heart with its passionate character and love for life of its people. So don't go looking for anything special to see and do: just go out and live the city, do what "Portenos" do, you'll easily find out what the charm of Bs As consist of. |

| | Italians Who Speak Spanish According to an old saying, Argentinians are "Italians who speak Spanish, dress like Frenchmen and think like Englishmen". Indeed Bs As seems far more an European than a Latin American city, in the architecture as well as in the character and lifestyle of its people. Portenos are told to be fashionable, intelligent, philosophical, poetic, thoughtful and proud. Bs As has also a well-deserved reputation to be home to some of the most beautiful and charming women in the world (...and men, insures me a girlfriend of mine). Every time in the day is the right time for Portenos to dress up, go see and be seen, whether at work, sitting at one of the many sidewalk cafes, enjoying themselves at restaurants and clubs, or just walking along the streets. If you're in the mood of love, be careful, you might find what your're looking for! |

| | A Dancing Feeling of Sadness Bs As is paired with Tango ... "A dancing feeling of sadness", "A regret of lives never lived", "An anxious research of freedom" (Borges). For someone, tango can be danced only by those who have by any means lost their freedom. Well, whether you still own your freedom or not, I recommend you go see a tango show. I know, many tango lovers will tell you that shows are not real tango, that real tango is danced in dark, dirt and crowded "milongas" and that shows are made up for tourists. I don't challenge they might have a point, but I went to one and I was delighted (I also went to a milonga attended by locals by the way). My recommendation is: pick a good one and go see a tango show. |
