City on Danube

Danube flows through Budapest and it is interesting fact that it is never frozen, thanks to warm water springs, no matter how cold it gets. There are several big bridges across Danube. The most beautiful is Chain bridge where this photo has been taken. You can see Budapest castle in the back. It is great view from both sides of the river. You can go to the castle that is situated at the top of the hill by "Budavari siklo" - Hungarian for funicular.

Enjoy the view

This photo as been taken while going up to visit Budapest castle - Budavari palota and Fisherman fortress. You can spend one full day on this side of river.
The Fisherman Bastion has become one of the capital’s landmarks, offering a beautiful panoramic view of Pest.

Heroes square

One of the most beautiful squares in the world is "Hosok tere". It is spacious and surrounded with beautiful buildings - Museum of Fine Arts, Art Gallery and Millennium Memorial. Many of the statues represen Hungarian Monarchs and Princes of Transylvania. At the center of the Monument there is a column surrounded by seven figures - leaders of the seven Hungarian tribes.
Very close to the square are ZOO and Vaydahunyad castle where Museum of Hungarian Agriculture is placed.
One metro station (yellow line) away is famous Szecheny furdo (thermal baths)- the most famous in Budapest. I do not recommend you to go there because there are to many people coming and if you need to relax it is better to go to some hotel wellness.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Easy to travel around with three metro lines
  • Cons:People don't speak english very well so do not expect help getting around without map
  • In a nutshell:Beautiful architecture

great to know not everyone speaks English as it makes you learn their language to the best of your ability which is the best thing to do abroad!
